Proverbs 12:1 (ESV)1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.
This Proverb assumes a social evolution. Those who are in authority and able to render discipline have ascended up the social hierarchy.
They, in turn, wish for an orderly experience of power, thus, they train those under them to live as they (the authority) wish. In doing so, they impart knowledge.
Knowledge can be deduced from discipline. How did a person in authority gain said authority? The answer lies in the rules and boundaries they enforce.
So, if you wish to have the same rule they enjoy, place yourself under their oversight and discipline. Discipline is the key to rule.
To hate discipline is to love stupidity. To embrace stupidity is to solidify ones place rather to ascend to a greater place of authority.
